Scientific experiments and technology – to understand, discover and think ahead. Eureka! A platform for challenging experiments and technical developments that deepen knowledge, arouse curiosity and promote real understanding.

The pursuit of knowledge, the creation of knowledge and the development of technologies are unique characteristics of humans. No other creature has the ability to challenge its own limits, systematically expand knowledge and develop technologies that not only change the world, but advance humanity as a whole. This quest for progress – for a deeper understanding of the world and the improvement of our capabilities – is one of the most remarkable characteristics of humans and should be among the highest ideals we promote.

Yet it is precisely this striving that is often neglected in our society. Neither teaching in schools, nor education at home, nor the public perception of science and technology do justice to this aspiration. The existing offerings reflect this deficit: experiment kits and books for children focus on showmanship and entertainment instead of promoting understanding and challenging the mind. Science as it is taught today must be colourful, flashy and easy to consume – just not tedious, challenging or even dangerous. But easily digestible science is just that – and leaves our bodies and minds as quickly as the “experiment” is over. There is no “eureka moment” in the form of new insights and internalised knowledge.

With ‘Eureka!’ we want to counteract this and create an alternative. Our aim is to show experiments that challenge the mind, arouse curiosity and promote enthusiasm for gaining knowledge. It is about teaching critical thinking, stimulating the imagination and training perseverance for the long and often arduous path to scientific knowledge. What you have learnt is not easily forgotten. We make science unforgettable.

‘Heureka!’ stands for the excitement of discovery and the joy of knowledge. It is intended to be a platform that inspires people to look at and understand the world through the eyes of scientists and inventors.
